Endoscopy:

Endoscopy is an internal examination of the body using a flexible tube called an endoscope.  Endoscopic procedures are crucial in diagnosing diseases of the digestive system including colon cancer, colitis and diverticulitis.

Located on the second floor of the hospital, the Endoscopy Unit provides patients with a highly skilled staff of Board Certified Gastroenterologists, Registered Nurses and technicians, state-of-the-art equipment, streamlined admissions and post-procedure follow-up. It houses three procedure rooms, a private admitting area, and four recovery beds. Every effort is made to assure that privacy, confidentiality and dignity are respected.

The Endoscopy Unit at St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital consistently scores in the 95th percentile for patient satisfaction. Last year an estimated 2800 procedures were performed. Colonoscopies and Esophagogastroduodenoscopies or EGD’s are the most common procedures performed.
