ST. JOSEPH’S WAYNE HOSPITAL HONORS TWO
NURSES FOR PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE
Two SJW
registered nurses were recently honored by their colleagues, physicians and
hospital leaders for their outstanding commitment to providing high quality,
compassionate care for their patients, serving as a mentor for staff and
exemplifying the highest standards of the nursing profession. Corazon S.
Dumalagan, RN, a nurse on the Intensive and Critical Units, received the 13th
Annual Ursula Cahsens’ Critical Care Excellence Award. Sheila Blythe, RN, a
nurse on the Fifth Floor Telemetry Unit, received the Fourth Kathleen
Houlihan Special Recognition Award for Telemetry and Progressive Care.

“Ursula Cahsens
and Kathleen Houlihan were nurses at our hospital who epitomized excellence
in nursing practice, dedication to their patients, advocacy, leadership and
commitment to our hospital,” commented Linda Bowersox, RN, Vice President of
Patient Care Services. “By establishing these awards in their honor and
presenting them annually, we affirm the invaluable contributions that nurses
make to the quality of patient care, the advancement of best practice
guidelines and the education of staff. I congratulate my colleagues, Corazon
Dumalagan and Sheila Blythe and thank them, on behalf of our hospital, their
nursing colleagues as well as the countless numbers of patients and
families who have benefited from their care and caring,” Ms. Bowersox added.
