ICU/CCU:

The seven-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the eight-bed Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) at St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital provide advanced nursing care for patients who require continuous, comprehensive observation and detailed intensive care in a therapeutic atmosphere of competency and compassion.

The ICU and CCU contain state-of-the-art monitoring equipment and full cardiac monitoring capabilities.  Both units are organized in accordance with the rules and regulations of Critical Care.

In ICU/CCU Registered Nurses or RN’s provide care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager and Primary Care Physician. They are certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Intravenous Therapy.

The patient/nurse ratio is routinely a mixture of 2:l to 3:1, with adjustments made based on patient acuity assessment.  Unit secretaries and nursing assistants are available to assist the RN’s and are often cross-trained in clerical and assistant functions to provide a broader base of support.

For more information please Email: Joan Murphy, RN, Nurse Manager.
