Nursing at St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital:

St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital, a 229-bed community hospital offers many challenging settings for nurses to practice.  Our staff has begun a journey into the future to meet the ever-changing healthcare environment by strengthening our role as professional nurses within the hospital and in the Wayne community.

As professionals, we use our knowledge and competency to positively impact the continuum of patient care.  We applaud our participation in each birth and make note of how our interventions play significant roles in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital’s nurses give of themselves in demanding and emotional times by their presence at the bedside, through providing education, facilitating safe and effective discharges, and by comforting patients and family members during the death process.  Nurses share a unique bond in knowing that their profession is both an art and a science.  For that is who we are, sharing the most intimate moments with our patients and offering compassionate, quality care.

We embrace every new nurse who joins our staff and take pride by developing them from the novice to expert.  We learn from experienced staff who join our team and together grow and advance our nursing knowledge and skills to promote the highest quality patient care.  In recognition of this, our vision is to foster a proactive, professional environment that promotes: empowerment and accountability, clinical excellence, critical thinking, lifelong learning, mentoring, and leadership.
